The crisis in the aviation industry is forcing companies to dispose earlier of their old aircraft, which are too expensive to operate. It's a question of economy, but also a question of ecology. Aircraft cemeteries are slowly giving way to huge recycling plants. There is only one in Canada and it is north of Montréal, in Mirabel.

The announcement of Aerocycle’s accreditation by both the Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association (AFRA) and the Aviation Suppliers Association (ASA) sparked widespread media coverage in July. Aerocycle is the first end-of-life aircraft dismantler in Canada to earn AFRA accreditation of its dismantling and demolition operations as well as ASA accreditation of it aircraft parts management operations.
