Recycling of a Global 6000 fuselage
As part of Aerocycle’s R&D activities to optimize dismantling processes, this project was an opportunity to test a diamond wire cutting system. The work was conducted at Montréal–Trudeau International Airport (YUL). The experiment produced a cleaner cut with minimal FOD, as the diamond cable easily sliced through the metal leaving only a small amount of aluminum dust. More testing and fine-tuning will be required before this cutting method becomes part of standard dismantling processes. Additional R&D activities will include testing of gas saws and robotic waterjet cutting systems.
